Simple Auto Delay Popup is a lightweight WordPress plugin for easily creating modal popup windows that automatically display after a certain amount of time, defined by you.

Popup content can be the content of a page on your site or any other url.

Usage is very straight forward and it’s very scalable.

Increase Sales!

Think of the possibilities! The attention demanded by these popups can help your site be more successful in converting visitors into clients and patrons. Some ideas of what to popup:

New product info

Hot limited time offers

Surveys

Contact forms.

Important information

How to Use

Using this plugin is as simple as adding this shortcode anywhere within a post or page.

This will create a popup, 400px high & 600px wide, which will popup three seconds after the page has loaded. The contents of the popup will be the content of the page with the ID you specified (the ’3′ above is just for the example). If you’re not sure how to find a page’s ID see below.

Displaying Page Content

Create and publish a new page, this will be the content of the popup. Take note of this new page’s Id (see below if you’re not sure how to find this).

On the post or page where you want the popup to appear add the shortcode and specify the ID of the page you just created.

How to Find the Page ID

View the list of all your site’s pages at Pages > All Pages. Hover over the page you want to use and check the url at the bottom of the page. The ID of the page is the number following ‘post=’.

Further Customization

If the default dimensions, delay time, or content setting isn’t doing it for you they are completely customizable. Here are all the available attributes you can use:

id = the ID of the page that you want displayed in the popup.

url = (optional, use instead of ID) – the url of the website you want displayed in the popup. *use either id or url

delay = (optional, defaults to 3 sec) – amount of time in seconds the popup will delay before it opens.

height = (optional, defaults to 400px) – height of the popup in pixels.

width = (optional, defaults to 600px) – width of the popup in pixels.

frequency = (optional) – a number representing how often the popup will appear in days. ie: 1: appears once per day, 2: appears once every two days, etc…

*Note use id or url depending on if you’re displaying a page or a url. If you use both together the url will take priority.

Displaying a Specific URL

Simply use url=” instead of id=” in the shortcode, like so:

Of course, you would replace ‘http://www.google.com’ with the url of your choosing.

Purchasing the plugin includes simple support and any future updates. You will be directed to the download page after purchase.

Only $9.99

Write a lot of bar or restaurant reviews or about anything that has an address? This WordPress plugin will allow you to easily place a quick loading google map at the end of any post or page when desired.

Usage

The plugin looks for a value in a custom field called
static_map_address

If this field is left empty nothing will display. If you enter a full address into it a static google map of the address will display at the bottom of the post or page with a link that, when clicked, displays a small form so the reader can get directions to the location. Check out the example below on this post!

Requests have been abundant when it comes to using my Simple Popup Plugin for WordPress to create a popup music player. Thus, I have written this guide to help you on your journey of musical satisfaction.

Here’s what we’re going for:

Download the Plugins

Download and install/activate the XSPF Music Player plugin and this Simple Popup plugin.

Create Page Template

Create a page template to be used for the page that you intend to popup. This should be very minimal, ie no sidebar, navigation, etc. You basically just want an empty page with maybe a background color and possibly some links associated with your music (facebook, myspace,…).

The XSPF Player plugin requires you to add this tag in the body of this template for the player to show:

<?php xspf_player::start('playlistname'); ?>

For info on creating a page template see the WordPress documentation. If you like you can download this music player popup page template which already contains the XSPF Player tag and place it in your current theme’s folder for it to work.

Create New Page

Create a new page (not page template) in WordPress with no text in the body and choose the page template you just created from the template pull-down menu.

Link it Up

Using the Simple Popup Plugin shortcode, template tag, or widget create a link to your newly created page wherever you desire. Set the dimensions for the pop up in the Simple Popup Plugin’s options page.

And that’s it! Ain’t no thang.

Here’s another simple WordPress plugin I came up with. I was trying to figure out an easy way to create a text box for some song lyrics which, once clicked, selected everything inside so anyone could easily copy and past the contents. Well, once I figured out how to make it I figured I would make it easier for others who want to do the same thing. Hence, Simple Select All Text box was born.

Basically with a simple shortcode in a post or a page you can have your very own one click, select all text box. Here’s how it works:

To create a text box in a post or a page use this shortcode: [textbox rows="3"]Contents of text box[/textbox] You can obviously change the amount of rows to your liking. If rows aren’t specified it will default to 5 rows.

To create a text box in the sidebar, header, footer, etc. use this template tag:

<?php simple_select_textbox('# OF ROWS','WIDTH IN PX','BOX CONTENT') ?>

Installation:

Upload the whole simple-select-all-textbox folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.

Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress.

Go to the options page to adjust the width of all text boxes made using this shortcode.

Screenshots:

Changelog:

Version 1: It Begins

Version 2 (3/8/11): Fixed bug which wouldn’t allow multiple instances of the textbox on one page.

Version 2.1 (3/9/11): Fixed bug which showed default HTML markup in the textbox. Expressly writing HTML in the visual editor will still show in the textbox however.

Version 2.2 (7/22/11): Added support for nested shortcodes and added class to textboxes for styling. Also renamed some variables to more unique names to avoid conflicts with other plugins.

How did I do it? (For those interested WordPress folks). I basically used this StatusPress plugin but made some slight changes so it would display how I wanted. If you’re interested let me know and I can hook you up with an altered copy.

Looking for a popup that will automatically open after a specified amount of time? Then check out my Simple Auto Delay Popup WordPress plugin.

Here’s my first WordPress plugin; blood, sweat, and tears have gone into making this simple thing. The function of this plugin is to easily create a simple popup window like so.

I figure there’s got to be a bunch of bands/musicians using WordPress that need an easy way to create a popup music player to showcase their songs without having visitors go to a separate page of the site.

*This plugin is compatible with WordPress 2.8 and above.

An image can be used as the link as well:
