According to this article from Sfist, No Name will not be on the Alice morning show any longer. The article’s facts are a little vague but it doesn’t seem surprising since they recently changed producers and seem to be taking the show down a new path. I’ve been listening to Sarah and No Name ever since I’ve lived in SF and have grown acustomed to their funny morning antics. As you may recall, I made a song for their 60 second song contest that didn’t win anything but was played a few times. As pathetic as it sounds I really hope it’s not true, my morning commute wouldn’t be the same! Am I the only one who thinks that was a bad idea?

No more keg-a-rator
I heard that they gave him a 1 year severence pay and gave him the boot while on vacation. Didn’t they just fire their afternoon male DJ recently (I think it was Webster) and Matty quit a few weeks ago. They are trying to get rid of any male listening audience. I used to love Alice, but this sucks!
I heard from Vinnie’s family that he will be back on the morning show with Sarah beginning in September.
Man, is anyone listening this morning? It’s like The View! Don’t get me wrong, I think Sarah is a good host but they need some balls on that show seriously. Oh well, I’m gonna stick with them because I’ve always liked the show.

I gotta say I like hooman though, I think he adds a little something to the show. Especially now that No Name’s gone. Without him it would be pretty bland.
Sarah is more than a soccer mom… she’s a million-dollar-a-year soccer mom. No Name brought a hint of testosterone to the show and made it okay for straight-guys to listen to Alice. But now?
I agree with you! It just won’t be the same. I’m sooo sad. I mean, I’ll still listen to see where things go from here, but it’s just a real downer to think about the show without No Name.
They fired the WRONG person. Sarah should’ve been canned over No Name. Whene Sarah was on vacation or maternity leave and No Name had to cover the show, it rocked. But whenever Sarah covered when No Name was out, the show lagged and was un-listenable.
PS: Sarah was trying to spin it this morning that No Name had already been thinking about leaving for months, and that he wanted to concentrate on his TV show (House Detectives) etc. etc. But I think she was just trying cover for the fact that he was (wrongly) fired.
I have been listening since the Vinnie days and this is just another bonehead move by the ‘stuffed shirt’ corporate idiots. No Name was the show and Sarah was the perfect balance for him. They will not be able to replace him!!! The comment Garrett made about this mornings show sounding like the “View” was perfect. The show sucked!!!

I CANNOT believe they could let No-Name go, this is just stupid on Management’s part. Listening to just Sarah & Gretchen this morning was painful. No-Name and Sarah had good banter and opposing thoughts, it was nice to hear the differences. This morning was just too chics talking chic talk….AND I’M A CHIC! but don’t wanna listen to that in the morning. I WANT NO-NAME BACK!!!
I agree Jennifer, the Chic thing this morning sucked! they would have been better off having Hooman fill in! As a woman, I get so tired of hearing about Sarah’s boys and her life in Marin!

STUPID MOVE ALICE!!!
Okay, first of all, I liked the chemistry between Sarah and Vinnie and hated that he was let go. I turned off my radio and listened to my ipod because No Name wasn’t Vinnie. Eventually, (it didn’t take too long) I came around to appreciate No Name and of course – loved his viewpoint. I would listen to Alice Radio in spite of the ever self-absorbed, egotistical Hooman. I liked Non Name and I liked Matty. WTF? You can’t tell me that Sarah didn’t have something to do with this BS! I have always liked her, but something doesn’t feel right.
I am going to go NPR, KFOG, or anything else until I hear that they’ve brought him back.
Oh and btw, I AM in the targeted $ demographics of this station.

I am so upset. I saw last week that his bio was off the website and I thought something was up. I asked a girl (at the Alice booth)at the Menlo Park Street Fair yesterday if something was going on and she said that I would have to check the website this week and that management changed, etc. and she hoped I was happy with the changes. Well, I miss No Name already. I like Sarah but No Name is awesome. Much love No Name. I admire his versatility and he seems like he loves his wife and kids so much. Plus he has a brain. I don’t think people give him enough credit. Anyway, enough from me.
I wish they would be honest about “why” rather than dancing around it. I agree..No Name was a good balance. I enjoyed his comments… Hope to see him up to something local again soon!
I am so upset about this. No Name was the main reason I listened to this show. I will miss him dearly during my morning commute…it just wont be the same.
I’m a 10+ year listener and was there throughout the Vinnie debacle and was pleased when No Name jumped on board and loved listening to him (and Matty, was sad to see him leave as well) and grew to love the road the morning show was taking.

The show is flailing this morning without No Name, with just Sarah and Gretchen running the show. They’re trying to concentrate on all the “special moments” Sarah makes on the show, like her recent interview with Darrell Hammond. Sarah then bragged that Darrell texted her to see if she was “ok” as soon as he heard the news. Give me a break! And Sarah, get over yourself.
Thanks to Girard for posting the Woody show report (that press release was an unbelievable piece of BS!) and to Garret for posting the rant on Craigslist, which seems to be from a “show insider”. I just turned my radio off; I won’t be listening to Alice anymore.
I’ve been a listener for over 10 years… I was also completely shocked when they fired Vinnie without any explanation, just like that! I stopped listening for a long time, and then came back and warmed up to No Name. And now, it’s No Name’s turn. What’s up with these people? Haven’t they heard the saying “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” or at the very least, “if it’s broken, fix the right piece”!! Hint, hint, Sarah!!!
Sarah is boring as hell, No Name was hilarious and original. I can’t believe her complaining about feeling hurt right now. She has nothing to contribute and like everyone said, the shows without No Name were a snooze fest. JUST LIKE NOW.

Hopefully karma catches up to Sarah and the ratings dive, so that she too will be unemployed after her contract expires. No Name was the spark for the show and for Sarah to toss him under the buss instead of backing him up is just a foolish decision. Management loves to shake things up, toss out everything, then pick their own people. If it works, great. If it fails, they just move on and screw up the next organization they land at. Been checking out comments all over the place and I just don’t see much support for Sarah in general.
If they are going to fire No Name than they can aleast bring Vinnie back! I hate that Alice Radio keeps firing the morning show guys. I have stopped listening, and will not listen again unless Vinnie or No Name come back!
What does the comment that Sarah “threw No Name under the bus” mean? Who thinks she has so much power? What could she have offered management? Radio stations are constantly changing line-ups. I like Sarah (and No Name) but it is boring right now. Also – Vinnie was fired because of an addiction issue – you can’t blame Sarah for that.
Vinnie’s NOT coming back. There were several calls this morning (before I got fed up and stopped listening) asking for that, and Sarah said that although she keeps in touch with him and he’s been sober/clean for 4 years now, he’s happy and living in another state (Oregon?) and is not part of her “plan” for the show. And the fact that she even is hinting at a plan reveals that she knows more than she’s letting on about No Name’s departure.
Sara is a “Yes” person.
On Monday she denied it, and during the 7-8 drive time she owned it. (It being her involvement in firing No Name).
She’s jealous of Matty and No Name’s popular side gigs. She’s afraid of losing her home in Marin. And she’d do anything to keep her job.
The show is dead, her personal capital is now used up, and I predict that in a year, she and whomever they fill the open spot with, will be gone.
This “demographic” they are speaking to, the one that is supposedly out there waiting to find love in radioland, is just FUD. Bored females on their way to work, who have just dropped off their kids, who are on their way to the gym-store-bank-etc, only want one thing: to live vicariously through the show that has previously been provided.
Radio is the ALTERNATIVE medium. For everything else, there is the internet (Gasp! says radio), Television (The View, Martha Stuart, and Oprah already provide this stable front), and of course RSS, Podcasts, and etc.
Even so- Radio like Alice has been dead for a long time- Go buy a trial subscription via internet for Sirius or XM radio and see what I mean. If you think radio sucks now, and it does now that No Name is out, wait until that pries your awareness apart!
I’ve listened to the show on and off for years. Sometimes good/sometimes bad… I’ve enjoyed the on-air “chemistry” between Sarah and No Name but have always felt it was contrived. I finally grew tired of listening to Sarah discussing her kids and her Marin life while No Name was talking about getting faced and scraping his friends off of the street after all-night drunks… BORING! (and sad). Hooman is awful and became the reason for my finally moving to XM. I felt Matty seemed okay. Kathy was a joke playing the “cat scratching on the window wanting to be let inside all the time.” She never seemed to click and was always a wannabe. Sad that things like this happen. But, honestly, how much yoga, Marin soccer games, drunken binges and tattoo stroies can you do before the world gets a clue?
How the hell is HOOMAN still on that show? WTF? From Vinnie, Uzette, Shootie, now No Name? Here’s to demographics…
